I Sat With God Today: And Prayed for Wonder
9x12 series of 3
It had been a while since I created something for the on-going collection: “I Sat With God Today”
Though all of my work, in some capacity, is a way of honoring my faith and sharing Grace, the pieces found in this continuous collection have a more direct purpose than reflection. These pieces are tangible moments of prayer and conversations with God.
These three in particular, as their name describes, are a prayer for wonder.
They came about during anxious moments preparing for my first solo exhibition. I was riddled with stress and overwhelmed with worry.
I was running out of time and I knew I had to create more pieces but I didn’t want to create just for the sake of having more framed paint on a wall.
One of the core inspirations of my work is and always has been Wonder — a curiosity for little miracles and fantasy of peculiar worlds.
So I prepped some blank paper, prayed for wonder, and painted.
Filled with spontaneity and serendipity these three paintings ignited a tired creative spirit and put my soul in a reverie. I hope they take you to a similar place of whimsy and wonder. 🤍
