After Absence

“After Absence” in all of her radiant glory. . For those who don’t know , this piece brought me out of a period of not painting. I couldn’t find inspiration of my own so I started listening to my husband’s original compositions. He has a beautifully heart-breaking tune titled “absent” about the numbness and helplessness of loss. . I chose to create a piece in response to that composition about what happens after that feeling of being lost lightens and the brokenness begins to heal. What happens after the absence? . To me that meant an open window full of possibility. It meant growth and dawn and only hope . . . “And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.” 1 Peter 5:10 . I hope you look at her and see beyond the window and see only possibilities and light.
